If you ofter purchase and sell items on auction sites like, eBay, uBid or MadBid, or offer services on sites like Fiverr for example, you are probably aware how much your reputation as a seller or buyers weights. In some cases you may not even be allowed to auction on certain products without a certain level of reputation. Or, people will suspicious and hesitate to bid on your auctions if they see your account is new, and you basically have no or very little feedback.

So, the question is how can you increase your reputation and earn positive feedback online? Here are a few ideas.

Building Reputation As A Buyer

1. Make a few cheap purchases. One way to earn reputation as a buyer, is purchasing a number of items that are low priced, from various sellers. Evidently, aim for items that you can use, but in general, items so cheap  that their utility to you is even lower than the utility of the feedback you will get by completing the purchase.

2. Follow the seller's instructions. Evidently, doing as the seller says will earn their trust and respect and they will give you a positive feedback.

3. Pay promptly. Once you've won an auction, make the payment shortly. Don't change your mind, don't call the buyer to renegotiate, especially if the price is fair.

4. Give positive feedback. Since feedback and reputation is important to you, it's important to the seller as well. Don't forget to give a positive feedback and the seller will probably return the favor.

Building Reputation As A Seller

1. Sell eBooks. eBooks are usually cheap, shipment for this type of items is free and the delivery is instant. By selling eBooks, you can earn reputation quickly on various sites.

2. Ship fast. The soon the buyer will have the item in their possession, the happier they will be. A happy buyer will give you a happy feedback. So, consider one of the fastest methods of shipment, if multiple are available. Of course, opt for minimal shipping costs, or free shipping if possible.

3. Get in touch with the buyer. Being available to your clients is very important. It suggests that they are important to you as well. Therefore, if any buyer tries to contact you, before or even after the purchase of a product, pick up the phone or answer that email, and make sure you assist them with everything they ask.

4. Provide shipping insurance. Every buyer is well-aware that an item shipped to them can be damaged during shipment. So, especially if it's an expensive item, make sure you provide your buyer with at least some sort of assurance that in case the item is damaged they will be compensated somehow. eBay for example, even provides shipping insurance policies.
